Is the midweek meeting the new bookstudy in regards to attendance?
by solomon inwe had our circuit assembly last weekend and this was one of the needs of the circuit.
one of the main points was mid week meeting attendance.
apparently the attendance is very low.

It's the kids I really sympathise with. Dragged out on a school night, forced to dress up like shop window dummies and made to sit through this excreta. My local herd of dubs didn't finish their borefest until 9pm most weeks, then another half hour of gossip, before they even think about going home. How is a pre-schooler supposed to handle this? Even the older kids, it can't be doing them any favours. Yet they still get dragged along, often literally, by parents desperate to show how "spiritual" they are.

Speaking as a failed study, the book study always struck me as an exercise in utter banality. What's the point of it? Sitting there with your arse going numb whilst someone reads a paragraph or two of clumsily worded assinine drivel, then listening as someone quacks back what they've just heard. Why? To prove they've managed to stay awake thus far? Trudging through some monotonous tome, two or three pages at a time, ad nauseam. In what universe is this considered studious?
As for the TMS, the demonstrations always seemed hopelessly optimistic. Why is every "householder" so co-operative, so willing to start a study, etc, etc. Just once I wish they'd injected a little realism, and had them tell the dub to "go forth, increase and multiply" (or words to that effect).

is this a preview of future tactics of the WT to counter the impending child molestation lawsuits
by never a jw in.
"what if a powerful government were to hatch a plot to exterminate jehovahs witnesses as an organization.
many men in modern times have attempted to do that and failed" watchtower study edition july 15, 2012 page 23. call me cynical, but the timing, the reference to a powerful government (u.s.), and the use of the words "hatch a plot to exterminate" is right up the alley of the watchtower "the world is against us" tactics..

They've been watching too many YouTube videos about the Mayan calendar, or Planet Nibiru. Next Kingdom Ministry will come with a free tinfoil hat.

If a candlelight vigil does go ahead, can someone post the exact time when it'll happen, then perhaps those of us who can't be there in person can light one wherever we are and be there in spirit?

"Safeguard Your Mind" assembly targeting apostate thinking
by promised_presence ini recently attended the second day of the 2 day assembly for safeguarding your mind.
the first talk was entitled "feed your mind at jehovah's table".
the first portion of this talk specifically targeted apostates warning members to not listen to them "even if they were once strong in the truth or had great responsiblity in the congregation".

They could always drop 607BC and adopt 587BC, that should buy them another 20 years.

Eric Reeder's Memorial?
by NeverKnew ini've seen the insulting obituary and like all of you, i'm blown away.. i've also seen several threads of individuals crying out for an opportunity to meet with others on this board.
maybe it's time to recognize the need for an assembly (if you will) to foster a familial relationship for those on this board!.
what if a memorial were planned, in eric's honor of course, for a weekend next september in north carolina?

And thank you, NeverKnew, positivity like yours is just what people need right now. I'm like you in some ways, another "worldly". Or rather, a failed study. I did the the unthinkable in JW land, and learned too much. Stuff they really wish you didn't know, and certainly shouldn't ask questions about.

It's just another part of their relentless, ongoing campaign to keep the rank & file dubs doing theocratic BS, rather than doing other things they might discover are actually more worthwhile or enjoyable. They have to jerk the leash that little bit harder, every time.

So they deliberately chose NOT to have a guestbook. You don't think they were worried what some of the "guests" might have written, do you? Just wondering...

So are his family too cheap to do a decent obit, or is this something the funeral director does as a matter of course?
